Brewer Named Energy and Environmental Program, Policy Admin

Alan Brewer was recently named Loudoun County’s new Energy and Environmental Program and Policy Administrator, a position within the Department of Construction and Waste Management. He’ll make the switch from his current job in the Loudoun Department of Health beginning April 11.

The new position provides support to the Board of Supervisors, Office of the County Administrator, and other county departments about energy and environmental issues. Establishing and maintaining an information network for federal, state and local legal, regulatory and ordinance updates and policies; responding to public inquiries regarding the Loudoun County Energy Strategy and environmental programs and policies; and coordinating information and education about the county’s energy and environmental programs will all be elements of the job.

Brewer began his career in private consulting before joining the Virginia Department of Health in Clarke County in 1993. Brewer has been with the Loudoun County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division since 2000, most recently as Environmental Health Manager. Brewer has a bachelor’s degree in science from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in environmental biology from Hood College in Maryland.

Brewer said he is looking forward to his new job.

“I am honored to have been selected for this position,” he said in a release from the county. “I am eager to work with county departments, community organizations, our citizens, businesses, and our county partners to promote and enhance Loudoun County’s environmental and energy programs.”
