Fifth Annual Summer Brewfest Scheduled at Morven Park
The two-day event this weekend will feature more than 50 of America's best microbreweries.
“This is an interesting event,” said Festival Manager Bill Collins. “Old Dominion Brewery, which used to be in Ashburn up until about seven or eight years ago, had a really, really great festival that everybody loved. When the brewery went away, so did the festival.”
As a result, Collins teamed up with Vintage 50 to create a festival of their own, which has grown every single year, he said. At least 11,000 people are expected to attend.
“There’s a growing popularity of craft beer and microbreweries and brew pubs in the country, really, but especially in this area,” Collins said. “There’s been half a dozen pop up in the last couple of years. We’ll have most of the local ones.”
Among them, will be Mad Fox from Falls Church, Port City out of Alexandria and of course, Vintage 50. There will also be eight new breweries, Collins said, as well as a hard cider that will be featured.
Beer and wine samples will be available for everyone who is 21-years and older. Sampling will end one hour prior to the close of the festival (it ends at 9 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday). A variety of food vendors will also be on hand to complement the craft beers; a number of local and regional bands will be on hand to perform live music.
The event will take place Saturday from 11 a.m to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the equestrian side of Morven Park. Tickets can be purchased for $20 online or $30 at the door. A special bus ticket is also available for anyone who needs transporation to and from the Vienna Metro. The price is $45, which includes entrance into the festival.
Free parking will be available on site or you can take advantage of continuous shuttle service available at Vintage 50, 50 Catoctin Circle NE, and Spanky’s Shenanigans Pub.
