A man walked into the Bank of America at the Regal Plaza shopping center in CountrySide shortly after 11 a.m. today, handed a teller a note and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office reported early Thursday afternoon.

Investigators are now on the scene in Sterling, where the suspect – described as a 6-foot black man with a goatee, wearing sunglasses and a black and gray hat bearing the number 686 – implied to the teller that he possessed a weapon.

It's not clear if the suspect was in fact armed.

Witnesses said the man also wore a heavy black jacket and a black shirt during the holdup.

Investigators were not sure which direction the suspect headed when he left the bank.
