Burnett Honored for Philanthropy
Local attorney honored for his commitment to Loudoun Cares, community volunteerism
Peter Burnett, a local attorney and philanthropist, has earned the recognition of the the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber recently announced its recognition of Burnett through its Nonprofit Initiative and named him its first Community Leader of 2011. Burnett and his firm, Burnett & Williams, were honored for years of contributions to the community and Loudoun Cares’ongoing effort to build a Nonprofit Center in downtown Leesburg."We know the difference quality support can make for our clients whose lives have unexpectedly been turned upside down and for members of our community who have fallen on hard times,” Burnett said. “We are committed to going the extra mile for our clients and our fellow citizens in need.”
Andy Johnston, executive director of Loudoun Cares, said he thought Burnett deserved the honor not just for his commitment to that organization, but for his work in the community as a whole.
“Yes, he gives a tremendous amount through Loudoun Cares, but he does so in many other ways as well,” he said. “ Loudoun County is fortunate to have him sharing his many talents to make the community better place for all.”
Burnett’s vision for downtown Leesburg includes a location for Loudoun Cares that features parking and is accessible to public transportation. He and the organization hope the building will serve the community and the revitalization of downtown Leesburg.
