Clerk's Office Tour Available Monday Evening
Historic Records Manager John Fishback will lead the free event beginning at 7 p.m.
The Loudoun County Clerk’s Office will open its doors to the public this Monday evening to provide a behind the scenes look to anyone who might be interested. Historic Records Manager John Fishback will lead a discussion regarding Loudoun County’s record holdings, where to look for information on births, deaths, marriages and deeds, while teaching how to use the records for research.
A similar tour was provided back in May, one of two which are held each year. The records contained in the Circuit Court Archives cover over 200 years of the inhabitants of Loudoun County giving present day citizens a window into the past. One of the oldest pieces on hand was a Deed Book from 1757.
“We like to get the word out about the types of records that we have. We’re very proud of the collection,” Fishback said last year. “Loudoun County has all of its records going back to the beginning of the county and we’re one of the few counties in Virginia that do. So we like to get the word out to the Loudoun County residents and other people as well about what we have and how to use them.”
Monday's tour will begin at 7 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at the Thomas Balch Library no later than 6:45 p.m. Visit the town’s website to register. The event is free to attend.

I think it's a shame that this notice comes on the day-of for an interesting tour that is only offered twice a year.

I assume what they mean by " this Monday" is Oct 15th? No date is mentioned in the story, I just now saw this. Who checks and monitors the town calender on their web site? This notice should have been sent out in last week in Patch., especially since this is only a twice per year event.

Jeff, just as I told Ellie....the event has been posted on our site as well as the town's for quite some time. Patch can't write a story about everything so you'll have to check out our calendar, Leesburg's or the libraries if you want to know about upcoming events.
