Alternative Gift Fair offers residents a chance to give back to local non-profit organizations

In addition to a chance to visit various downtown businesses and celebrate Leesburg's annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, First Friday will offer an opportunity to donate to local nonprofits.

Loudoun Interfaith Bridges and Loudoun Cares are hosting an alternative gift fair tomorrow from 5 – 9 p.m. at 25 S. King St., offering people a chance to donate gifts to non-profits in the name of their friends and loved ones.

Participating charities will offer a variety of gift ideas, such as a $10 donation of books for pre-schoolers, $20 to deliver groceries to seniors and $50 to provide insulin for an uninsured diabetes sufferer.

The following organizations are participating this year: Loudoun Cares, the ARC of Loudoun, Loudoun Literacy Council, Volunteers of America, Friends of Loudoun Mental Health, Loudoun Community Health Center, La Voz, Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers and Friends of Homeless Animals.

All proceeds from donations will benefit residents of Loudoun County.

Additional events will be held Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. – 1pm during the Holiday parade and

Dec.16 from 5 p.m.  – 8 p.m. during Girls Night Out.

Online gift orders can be made at www.loudouninterfaithbridges.org.
