The Town of Leesburg will honor Virginia S. McGuire and her service to the community with a brief ceremony in Raflo Park, on Saturday Oct. 29. The event will feature the dedication of a Sweetbay Magnolia tree planted in memory of McGuire, who passed away on April 14, 2011.

McGuire served the Town for more than four years on Leesburg’s Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC) beginning in July 2006. For two of those years, she was the Chair of the EAC. 

McGuire dedicated countless hours to helping others and improving the local community by inspiring people to respect animals and the natural environment. The Leesburg Town Council passed a Resolution of Respect extending their sympathy to McGuire’s family in June 2011.   

Anyone who wishes to pay respect to McGuire is invited to attend the tree dedication ceremony, which will begin at at 11 a.m.
