Night Work Continues at East End Triangle

The downtown improvement project is estimated to take place until Nov. 9. Motorists are asked to take caution when driving through the area.

Improvements to the town's East End Triangle, also known as the gateway to Leesburg, will continue through the beginning of November. Night work will take place at the Y intersection of East Market Street and Loudoun Street SE between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

During these hours, traffic will be limited to one lane of eastbound-only traffic on Loudoun Street. East Market Street will be limited to one lane of westbound-only traffic.

Drivers should use caution and follow the detour signs during these hours. Work will take place Sunday through Thursday nights.

Improvements will include the re-routing of power lines and underground utility work. A new curb, short stone retaining wall, and decorative street signs will also be put in place.

The design calls for an eight inch caliper red oak, which will provide an immediate change in the appearance of the triangle, just outside of Mom’s Apple Pie. None of the area businesses should be impacted by the work.
