Northern Virginia Shows Support for Rail

A recent poll shows that 83 percent of Northern Virginians favor the completion of the Silver Line into Loudoun County, according to an article on WTOP.

To build or not to build? That has become one of the biggest debates in Loudoun County over the past few months. However, according to a recent Beltway Poll on WTOP, 83 percent of Northern Virginians favor the Silver Line and its future in Loudoun County as do 79 percent of those polled over the entire region.

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell was quoted in the article and said that extending the Silver Line to Dulles is "necessary and the right thing to do." He also wants to remove the mandatory project labor agreement, which provides incentives for use of union labor.

Loudoun County would have to pay for two rail stations but has been debating on whether to stay in the project because of costs. A decision is expected before July 4.
