Readers' Choice: Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt

Custom made, make your own, soft serve? Who makes the best in Loudoun?

Update: You nominated five busineses in Loudoun County that offer some of the best ice cream or frozen yogurt within the local area. They have moved on to the voting round of Patch's Readers' Choice 2012.

Here's your chance to put your money (er -- vote) where your mouth is. Cast your vote now to help crown a winner.

Voting opens July 23 and continues through 11:59 p.m. Aug. 17. Only one vote per user — tell your friends and family to log on to pick their favorite, too!

Original: Leesburg and Ashburn seem to be loaded with ice cream and frozen yogurt shops, from custom made to make your own. Where do you go to cool off with a treat?

We’re taking nominations from anywhere in Loudoun County for Patch Readers’ Favorite Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt Shop.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

All you need to do to nominate a business is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the business you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all businesses to our poll and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.

Check out the other Readers’ Choice categories in Ashburn Patch and Leesburg Patch, too.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

And don’t forget to sign up for the Ashburn Patch Newsletter or the Leesburg Patch Newsletter to find out when voting starts so you can support your favorite business and see who wins.

Both yogurt places are very good. Quality is on par at both.I like SWEET FROG better than Zinga because at sweet frog the topping bar is next to the register so it can be monitored and cleaned as necessary VS grubby hands in the Zinga bar that can easily go unnoticed

The shakes at Cheeburger Cheeburger are the best! I know it's not ice cream or frozen yogurt, but Milwaukee Frozen Custard is the best in the area to me. The froyos al taste the same to me.
At some point Zinga is going to have to make some changes- too many people (kids) taking toppings and yogurt and not paying for it. There was a place like that in my old neighborhood while growing up in NY and after a few years they had to adjust pricing (upward) and keep a better handle on toppings because they were losing money. I think that day might be coming for Zinga- not to say I don't like it though. It seems to have become a fun place for the kids to meet with their friends and the parents to chat too.

Frozen Fantasy in Ashburn Village is brand new and tops all other ice cream and yogurt places in the area. It is a frozen yogurt place. You serve yourself so you can get as much or as little as you wish. It is so delicious!! It is to die for!

I prefer Zinga's over Sweet Frog. I like that I can pick my own toppings at both, but Zinga seems to have more variety as far as the yogurt is concerned and it doesn't feel as crowded since it's a bigger store in general than Sweet Frog.

Our family favorite is Sweet Frog in Brambleton - great variety of toppings and yogurt and a friendly staff.

Unfortunately, all nominees had to be in by July 9. Next year we will likely expand the categories (or at least change a couple) and start the process over. There's a story about Pinkberry's on Leesburg Patch (http://leesburg.patch.com/articles/pinkberry-opens-in-leesburg). Feel free to weigh in there with praise until next year.

I love Zinga...I think it is very clean and the management is incredibly helpful. We asked about a candy that they had put out previously and they actually went in the back and got it for us! They also acted on the suggestion to add more seating and including whip cream as a topping. You can't ask for better customer service....it I can feed all 3 kids for under $6!
