School Board Seeks Input Regarding Student Calendar
The board is scheduled to adopt the 2013-2014 calendar on Oct. 9.
Last week, the Loudoun County School Board got its first look at a staff-proposed student calendar for the 2013-2014 school year. The board is scheduled to adopt the 2013-2014 student calendar during its Oct. 9 meeting.
The following is the proposed calendar:
Sept. 3: First Day of School for Students
Oct. 14: Holiday (Columbus Day)
Nov. 4-5: Student Holidays (Planning/Records/Conference Days)
Nov. 27-29: Holiday (Thanksgiving)
Dec. 23-January 1: Winter Break (Classes Resume January 2)
Jan. 20: Holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
Jan. 27: Moveable Student Holiday (Planning/Records/Conference Day)
Feb. 17: Holiday (Presidents’ Day)
March 31: Student Holiday (Planning/Records/Conference Day)
April 14-18: Holiday (Spring Break)
May 26: Holiday (Memorial Day)

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has lost its waiver under Section 22.1-79.1 of the Code of Virginia – otherwise known as the “Kings Dominion Law” – which means it cannot open school before Labor Day in 2013.
The board would like to receive public input on the proposed calendar prior to their Oct. 9 meeting. Input can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
