Financials:

LWC gets most of its budget from annual membership dues.  They also receive donations from the Dulles Greenway "Drive for Charity" project.  The organization is run by a dedicated group of volunteers.

History:

LWC was founded in 1995. Their goal is to educate the public about local wildlife habitats.  This is done through field trips, by helping with habitat restoration projects, writing articles, participating in local events and fairs.  LWC does not have a facility of their own, so they use local parks, sanctuaries, rufuges, libraries and community centers for their field trips and events.

One of their most popular events is the annual bird count which is coming up on Dec. 28.  The bird count is sponsored by the National Audubon Society and LWC's count area is 15 miles in diameter.  To sign up to participate in the bird count, visit their website for more information.

How you can help:

"The best way to help is to volunteer, especially folks who have a special knowledge that would be helpful to Loudoun Wildlife," said Jim McWalters, board member.

"The other way to help is to become a member and then you will receive the regular updates and list of events that we have going on," McWalters added.
