Town Council Approves Lowenbach, Consent Agenda
A public hearing was held Tuesday night. Councilman Dave Butler was not in attendance.
Staff is continuing to work with town residents regarding the Lowenbach Street Improvements Phase III (Prince Street) project, which includes drainage and street improvements along the west side of Prince Street Road between Edwards Ferry Road and North Street.
As of Tuesday night, 26 out of 29 signatures have been obtained by landowners, which are nessesary to acquire right of way dedication and easements in order to construct the project.
Prince Street resident Nicholas Richard told Town Council members on Tuesday that he would be more than happy to kick off the project but it's his mortgage company that hasn't been responsive.
"As much as I'd love to sign the offer, I can't," Richard said.
As a result, Land Acquisition Manager Keith Wilson asked that the Town Council authorize condemnation for the remaining three properties for the land rights that have not be required through negotiation or due to release of the mortgage holder, which has not been obtained. Staff will continue to work with landowners to obtain their signatures, he said.
The resolution passed 6-0-1.
The Town Council also approved a number of items on their consent agenda, which included:
- Awarding Comprehensive Civil Engineering Continuing Services Contracts to AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. of Chantilly, Virginia; Bowman Consulting Group, LTD. of Leesburg, Virginia; Paciulli, Simmons & Associates, LTC of Leesburg, Virginia; Rinker Design Associates, PC of Manassas, Virginia; and Rummel, Klepper & Kahl, LLP of Fairfax, Virginia
- FY 2013 Annual Program for street milling, resurfacing, concrete repairs and handicap ramp installations
- Awarding the 2012 Annual Street Milling and Resurfacing Construction Contract Award to Arthur Construction Company, Inc. of Dulles, Virginia
- Amending the FY 2012-2017 Capital Improvement Program to add the Miller Drive Extension and Appropriating Funding to complete the design and construction of the project
The Town Council will regroup on Tuesday, Aug. 28 during a public hearing, which will begin at 7:30 p.m.
