Town Council Candidates Confirmed
Nine candidates will appear on the ballot during the Nov. 6 election. Four of the candidates would be returning members.
Tuesday marked the filing deadline for prospective candidates in the upcoming Leesburg Town Council elections. Terms for Mayor Kristen Umstattd along with council members Katie Hammler, Tom Dunn, and David Butler will expire this year.
According to General Registrar Judy Brown, each member has filed the proper paper work in order to re-run in the Nov. 6 election. Umstattd officially announced her bid for re-election on June 3.
New applicants include Leesburg resident S. Ann Robinson, Jim Sisley, former councilman Robert Zoldos and Dwight Dopilka, who ran against Kelly Burk in April’s special election. Leesburg resident Linda Shotton, who serves as chairman of the town's Environmental Advisory Commission, will run against Umstattd for mayor.

Feel free to vote against any candidate who is in support of the silver line without knowing the cost! Equates to bad politics and poor judgement on their part!

I beg to differ. I would rather vote for people who are forward looking and realize that the Silver Line is needed if we are to ever hope to allevaite our traffic problems and attract businesses to Loudoun. We can't keep building more roads!!! These businesses will bring in much needed revenue by adding to the tax base and lessening the load off of us homeowners. Also if we can keep more cars off the road our air quality will improve for us and future generations. Lastly our governor and chairman of the BOS are in favor of this line. As far as financing goes --"where there is a will there is a way". If we can find MILLIONS to give to Dan Snyder and the Redskins(a private organization ) then we should be able to find money that will benefit us and our children now and into the future.
So I say support those who voted FOR the Silver Line on the Leesburg Town Council and those forward looking individuals who will vote for it on the Loudoun BOS.

What makes you think your tax rate will ever go down. These supervisors want more, more more. They are going to take my money to build the business tax base but as Matt L. says lets not tax business like Fairfax at 11 cents. Because others are silly and stupid and are willing to pay Synder and the Redskins is no reason to raise my taxes a hundred dollars a years which will cost me 3000 dollars if I live until 75. Tier the metro payments, let the supporters pay taxes upfront and if I want to ride it charge me double. Don't take my money for expensive service that benefits few and tell me it's raining. Fire all of them who voted for approval without knowing the cost.
