Town Hall Features Work of Leesburg Resident

Jennifer DeAngelo Baxter's paintings, which are based on life experiences, will run through Nov. 3.

An exhibit of paintings by Leesburg resident Jennifer DeAngelo Baxter is currently on display at Leesburg's Town Hall. They will be available for viewing through Nov. 3.

According to a press release, DeAngelo Baxter graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, concentration in oil painting in 2006. She studied abroad in Rome, Italy, where she studied Ancient Roman and Renaissance art and hopes to continue her art education in the future by pursuing a Master of Fine Arts.

DeAngelo Baxter's current body of work is built on her life experiences, and the life experiences of those close to her, she said. She often employs the use of found objects, such as bird eggs, skulls, and nests as symbols throughout her work.

DeAngelo Baxter also incorporates the visual convention of dripping or draining to reference aging and mortality. Some of her paintings depict rights of passage, while others capture a moment in time.

Artists interested in having their work considered for a future exhibit should contact Nancy Fixx, the staff liaison to the Leesburg Commission on Public Art, at 703-771-2707 or by emailing nfixx@leesburgva.gov.
