Traffic Alert: Overnight Dulles Road Closures Begin Sunday

Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project work planned for Aug. 12 to 18

 

Crews will shut down several highways and access roads around Dulles Airport this weekend as work continues on the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.

The following closure information was provided by the DCMP. 

Eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday between the Route 123/I-495 exit and the Dulles Connector Road (Route 167).

Detour:  "Traffic will be detoured from the eastbound DIAAH on to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) via a slip ramp on the right side of the highway.Motorists will use the Toll Road for the remainder of the route."

Eastboud Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) will close from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday and Monday, August 13 between Route 123 and I-495.

Detour:  "Take exit to southbound I-495, then take Exit 46B to northbound Route 123, and exit onto eastbound Route 267."

Higher tolls are bad for one primary reason: they force all but the most wealthy drivers off the Toll Road. The result of this is that the alternate free roads see drastically increased congestion. How bad will the increased congestion be? We really don't know, because the people planning the Dulles Rail Project hid the data.
