Gamer’s Union for Teens with Asperger’s meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at Rust Library in Leesburg. The Gamer’s Union is open to ages 12 to 21, accompanied by a caregiver. Registration is recommended, by calling the library 703-777-0323, or online at library.loudoun.gov.

The Gamer’s Union for Teens with Asperger’s provides an opportunity for teens to interact with others through gaming while their caregivers meet for friendship and networking. The library offers a variety of gaming systems for teens while caregivers talk in a separate area within eyesight of their teens.

Asperger syndrome is a neuro-biological communication disorder affecting key aspects of social awareness and interaction, language, usage and sensory integration. It is characterized by challenges in understanding how to interact socially. Most Asperger individuals are intellectually bright, visual learners who think in pictures. If you are interested in volunteering to facilitate or assist in some way, please contact Kathleen Britto at Kathleen.britto@loudoun.gov.
