DESCRIPTION:Local favorites\, The Polka Dots\, will provide a performance
  at Franklin Park Arts Center on Saturday\, August 16 at 7:30 pm. Ticket
 s are $10 for adults $8 for students and seniors.&nbsp\; Tickets can be 
 reserved by calling the box office at 540-338-7973. The Polka Dots are a
  lively acoustic group from Lovettsville\, Virginia. Sisters Aislin and 
 Nora Kavaldjian and local favorite Kris Consaul deliver a fun-filled\, f
 ast-paced\, unique set featuring numbers from yesteryear to next year.&n
 bsp\; Selections include old time\, vaudeville\, gypsy swing\, and early
  jazz tunes\, with original compositions as well. Their eclectic mix of 
 tunes\, combined with a penchant for quick instrument switches and smoot
 h three-part harmonies endear the Dots to audiences of all ages. This is
  a show you won't want to miss!Their first album\, Knee-Deep\, traverses
  a broad spectrum of forms\, from traditional string band tunes (Old Joe
  Clark)\, to gypsy swing (Limehouse Blues)\, dance numbers from the 1920
 s (Sister Kate)\, gospel standards (Gospel Plow)\, and the blues. The gi
 rls' original music is a fresh blend of these many influences.&nbsp\; Th
 e Dots have particular affection for the story-song\, evident on The Fin
 ned Witch\; Daisy is a plaintive and tuneful lament for a lost love\; wh
 ile Valentines Blues is a wry commentary on dating\; and Old Fat Cat is 
 a unique (and funny) allegory about cats (and people). All the selection
 s on the album transmit the Dots' infectious love for music of all types
 \, and their palpable musical energy.These young musicians love to play 
 and reinterpret old music for modern ears. From old-time tunes\, gypsy s
 wing numbers\, blues and gospel standards\, to their own original songs\
