The Writer's Center - Leesburg will host award-winning author Laura Oliver for a discussion on "The Power of Setting" for its June First Friday event, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. on June 1, at the Leesburg Town Hall, 25 Market Street, Leesburg, Virginia.
Oliver is author of "The Story Within: New Insights and Inspiration for Writers." Her essays and short stories have appeared in publications such as The Washington Post, Country Living and Glimmer Train. She teaches writing at St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, and is a recipient of the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award in fiction. She holds a master's of fine arts in creative writing and literature from Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont.
The cost of admission is $4 for members of the Writer's Center and residents of the town of Leesburg; $6 for the general public.
