NOVA Roller Derby Presents Free Regional Mixer

Some of the best skaters from around the region will join NOVA Roller Derby on July 27 for a free Good vs. Evil doubleheader at Michael and Son Sportsplex at Dulles.

The first bout is an all-female bout that will pit “The Pretty Princesses” against “The Evil Queens.” The second bout is co-ed and will have the “Super Heroes” battling it out against the “Super Villains. “

Both teams will be made up of a mix of NOVA Roller Derby skaters, D.C. Rollergirls, Freedom Belles, Chesapeake Roller Derby, Dominion Derby Girls, and more! This is a unique opportunity to see skaters from throughout the region come together and show off their set of skills.

Both bouts will be played following the official rule set of Modern Athletic Derby Endeavor (M.A.D.E.)—a national affiliation of leagues promoting fair, skilled competition. Tickets are free, so bring a chair and show up ready to see some fast skating and hard hits!

The Michael and Son Sportsplex (formerly Dulles Sportsplex) is located at 21610 Atlantic Boulevard in Sterling, VA. Doors will open at 3:00 p.m. While some seating is available, we recommend that fans bring their own chairs and arrive early to snag their spots and grab their pre-bout snacks. The first whistle will be at 4:00 p.m.

NOVA Roller Derby has a charitable mission that focuses on supporting people and organizations that have an immediate impact on our community. This July, NOVA Roller Derby is proud to be working with Neighbors Foundation as our charity of the month.  Neighbors Foundation provides care packages to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Items requested include coffee, chips, crackers, deodorant, toothpaste, and other non-perishable food and toiletry items. NOVA Roller Derby will be collecting donations at the bout from anyone who wishes to contribute.

After the bout, join the skaters as they return to Mahalo Cove for their after party. Located at 46300 McClellan Way in Sterling, Mahalo Cove offers music, drinks, delicious food, and the opportunity to meet and mingle with your favorite NOVA Roller Derby skaters and volunteers. Your admission wristband will get you in with no cover before 9 p.m.
