Ethan Schwartz is the most amazing 4-year-old boy! He brings so much joy and inspiration to everyone he meets with his beautiful smile and tenacious spirit. Ethan's journey began at birth with several surgeries to address his congenital heart defect. A few weeks after his 2nd birthday, Ethan had his 4th heart surgery and suffered a cardiac arrest which led to an anoxic brain injury. While Ethan continues to make great progress, he is still dependent on caretakers for all aspects of daily life. He is so loved by his parents, and of course his wonderful big sister Julianna!

Ethan's bedroom and bathroom need to be moved to the first floor, as being on the second floor introduces a fire-safety hazard, especially given all of Ethan's heavy equipment that could never be removed from the house in the event of an emergency. Not to mention that Ethan is a big boy now and is getting more difficult to carry up and down the stairs each day. The renovations will include converting a room downstairs to a bedroom/ therapy room, creating a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, installing a ceiling track and lift system, and installing a wheelchair ramp to enter the house from the driveway.
The First Annual Ethan’s Heart Beats Virtual Walk will be held at 5pm on Monday, June 2nd at Parallel Wine Bistro 43135 Broadlands Center Plaza, #121, Ashburn, VA 2148.
