What a great year it was for the Virginia housing market! Last year broke real estate records, with over 22,000 home sales in just the fourth quarter alone. This added up to nearly 100,000 home sales across the state in 2013.
The colder months typically mean small decreases in real estate activity, as more people focus on the holidays rather than home buying. While there was slight fluctuation in sales volumes, fourth quarter findings were still a marked improvement over the year before – a 2.9 percent increase.
The Virginia Center for Housing Research notes that “quarterly trends show continued improvement in the pace of home sales in Virginia” and said that “we can expect slow growth throughout the first quarter of 2014, but hope to see strong sales starting in the second quarter.” Over all, this leaves many homebuyers and real estate professionals optimistic about the future of the Virginia housing market!
