McDonnell Participates in Wreath-Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery
McDonnell is a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and First Lady Maureen McDonnell observed the changing of the guard and participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
The two were joined at the ceremony by Virginia Secretary of Public Safety Marla Graff Decker and Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long Jr., the adjutant general of Virginia, according to the governor's office.
A McDonnell spokesman told Patch that the governor's participation was not tied to any specific event of occasion. Rather, as an Army veteran, laying a wreath is something the governor has wanted to do.

McDonnell's parents are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. His father, John F. "Jack" McDonnell, was a World War II veteran.
