Five Things To Know This Week

Learn how to start your own small business this Thursday at Comfort Suites.

1.  on Thursday, March 8 at Comfort Suites, in Leesburg. Small Business Specialist Ruth Cope and Insurance Specialist Kelly Keyser Thompson will answer questions essential for successfully starting a small business. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Comfort Suites, located at 80 Prosperity Avenue, in Leesburg. The cost is $10 per online registration and $15 at the door. 

2. will lead a discussion around Women's History Month on Thursday, March 8. The theme will be Education and Empowerment and how we learn from life's setbacks and successes, which is represented in the stories of her book, Navigating Life's Roadways. She is a breast cancer survivor, army veteran and now owner of The DPJ Training Group, a leadership and personal development firm. Her book will be available for sales/signing. The event will take place from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the . 

3. on Friday, March 9. Take a tour of the Gov. Davis Mansion, then join Lew Parker, founder of Loudoun’s first winery, Willowcroft, to taste some wines and learn about the history of viniculture in Virginia. 4.  will take place on Saturday, March 10 beginning at 10 a.m. and again on Sunday, March 11 beginning at 1 p.m. Dodona Manor is the restored home and gardens of General George C. Marshall. Tours begin on the hour, with the last tour beginning at 4 p.m. The price is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students. Call 703-777-1301.

5. A Remarriage Showcase for Encore Brides will take place on Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the River Creek Country Club, in Leesburg. The event caters to the very unique needs of brides and grooms who are marrying for a second (or subsequent) time. Enjoy vendors, an encore bridal fashion show and talk to experts about financial advice for remarrying couples, stepfamily coaching, insurance needs and estate planning. Tickets are $25 each or two for $40.
