 died Dec. 23 after a heroic battle with cancer. Tom was born Dec. 9, 1949, in New York City to Josephine Romanow Ambrose and John Francis Ambrose. At the age of 2 he moved to Johnstown, PA, where he spent much of his childhood. He then moved to Loudoun County with his family as a teenager and graduated from Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville. He joined the U.S. Army in February 1970 and attended the U.S. Army’s Prep School Program at West Point. After a tour in Vietnam he was honorably discharged. He then decided to continue his education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to group homes and mental services throughout Loudoun County.

died Dec. 26 at INOVA Loudoun Hospital Center in Lansdowne, Va. Frank was born Thursday, May 19, 1949, in Leesburg, Va. He was a son of the late Wilbur Hunter Jewell and Janet Louise Myers Jewell. Frank was a native of Loudoun County. He had a passion for baseball and was an all-star pitcher for Valley. Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended Brevard College and was employed in the construction industry for more than 25 years. His last position was Director of Construction with Artisan Builders (formerly Yeonas & Ellis).

, of Orlando, Fla, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 24. Tim was born Feb. 25, 1969, in Camp Lejeune, NC; raised in Leesburg, Va.; graduated from the Virginia Episcopal School in 1987; and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics at Greensboro College in 1994. He was an avid fisherman that loved spending time with his family and friends.

, of Leesburg, Va, passed away Dec. 21. William was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Boston, Mass. He was a son of the late William M. Thornton and the late Marion Edith Smith Thornton. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps was a veteran of WWII. William received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University in 1953 and was a Certified Professional Engineer. He was employed by IBM in East Fishkill, NY, for 28 years before retiring in 1990 to Leesburg.

known to friends as "Jean," went to be with the Lord on Dec. 23. She was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and that showed in her work as a manager for more than 20 years with Family Christian Stores.  Jean served on the boards of numerous organizations, most recently as Recording Secretary for the Loudoun County Women’s Club during this past year.
