On Monday, May 30, 2011, the Town of Leesburg will hold its traditional Memorial Day observance on the lawn.  This year’s featured speaker will be Major General Hugh “Bugs” Forsythe, USAF (Ret).  The observance will also include a wreath-laying ceremony and special music by the Loudoun Board Guard Fife & Drum Corps.  Leesburg VFW Post #1177 and the American Legion Post #181 will be participating in the observance ceremonies as well.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the Loudoun County Courthouse. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Loudoun County Courthouse.  The historic downtown will have road closures in effect from 9:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m., including Market Street from Church to Wirt and King Street from Loudoun to North.  Event guests are encouraged to park at the Leesburg Town Hall Parking Garage, accessible from Loudoun Street. Additional on-street parking will be available for ceremony attendees with special needs. Please contact the event organizer prior to the event in order to make arrangements for additional accommodations.
