The weather is about to get nice, so it's a great time to shake off the winter blues and get running. Springtime means that there are plenty of races coming up in our area. From fun runs, to run/walks, to charity races, there's something nearby coming up that will be fun and challenging.
Capital Running Company St. Patrick's Day 8K
Sunday, March 13, at 9:00 AM. Located in D.C. at Freedom Plaza (on Pennsylvania Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets, NW), it's a little bit of a hike, but this race is also considered to be the kickoff of the Spring race season in the area. Unlike most St. Patrick's Day activities, this one is also fun for the whole family! In addition to the 8K, there's a 1K fun run.

19th Annual Van Metre 5 Mile Run For Children's National Medical Center
Saturday, March 19 at 8:30 AM. Broadlands Market Place, Wyndridge Drive, Ashburn, VA. This is a five-mile race benefiting Children's National Medical Center. If you're not quite up to running that distance, or if your kids want to participate, there's also a one mile fun run/walk.

Dulles South Youth Sports 5K for ALS Research
Located in South Riding at the Dulles South Multipurpose Center at 24950 Riding Center Drive, DSYS has partnered up with University of Pittsburgh Center for ALS Research to raise money and awareness for this devastating disease.
Saturday March 26, at 8:30 AM at the Prison Fellowship Ministries, 44180 Riverside Pkwy #100 in Lansdowne. This 5K event is family-friendly and benefits orphans in Adams, Ethiopia.
Brambleton Ribbon Run/Walk 10K/5K
Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 AM at the Brambleton shopping center. Help support the fight against breast cancer with this Ashburn 10K or 5K run/walk. There's also a kids' fun run, so bring the whole family!
