Patch Picks

In this week's edition of Patch Picks, we give you some area events catering toward children and your four-legged friends.

There's an old Hollywood adage that you never want to work with kids or dogs. Luckily, that doesn't apply here, as there are plenty of weekend activities to do with both your kids and your dogs.

Every Friday, the after-hours teen center in Cascades library is open from 7-10 PM. Let your teens have fun with art supplies, computers and video games in a safe, social environment. Each week also has a special activity. This week's activity is hardware jewelry.

The Home Depot on Shellhorn Rd. in Ashburn is hosting a free kid's workshop on Saturday morning, from 9-12. The workshops "teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment." This week, the project is a valet organizer.
