My son is almost 3, and is a total fish. He loves the water. Whether it's the beach, a sweet water park or a hose in the backyard, he loves getting his bathing suit on. I like to keep things interesting by visiting different pools in the area, so here are some public pools that you can enjoy during the waning days of summer:
Loudoun's newest pool is arguably the nicest. With a lazy river, multiple slides and different depths for kids and adults of all ages, everyone can have a great time at A.V. Symington. Birthday parties are a summer staple, and their snack bar will keep you going during those marathon visits.

The Franklin Park Pool is A.V. Symington's direct predecessor. It may not feature the lazy river, but it still has multiple slides and a large area for families to enjoy. It's also slightly cheaper than the Leesburg alternative, so it's a great, cost-effective alternative.

Located in Sterling, Volcano Island isn't run by the county; rather it's part of the Northern Virginia Regional Parks Authority. While the waterpark itself has giant slides and a whole tiki/volcano theme, what really makes Volcano Island stand apart is that it's not just the pool. For just an extra $1.50, you also have access to mini golf.
The great thing about Loudoun is that it has some fun indoor pool options as well, for the off-season or just when the weather's bad. Claude Moore Leisure Pool in Sterling features a giant enclosed slide, as well as a hot tub and a children's area with a smaller slide.
Of course, no list would be complete without the old standby: Ida Lee's indoor pool. It certainly isn't the fanciest one, but the "beach" area is great for little kids who are first being introduced to the water, and there's a sizable lap swimming area for those who are going for exercise. However, there are also diving boards and a slide so kids can still have fun.
