Patch Picks

This week, we give you great indoor ideas to entertain the kids.

Though the weather is getting warmer, we still have plenty of rainy days ahead of us. That means fun, indoor activities for the kids are still a necessity. This week, we pick our top five:

This is great for the younger kids. It gets them out of the house and gets them involved in songs, stories and more. Plus, if you have older kids, they can hang out in the teen center while you and the little one sing "Itsy-Bitsy Spider."

Whether you're just taking them to play in the pool, or siging them up for one of their many classes, Ida Lee is great for all ages. Swimming, karate, dance - whatever your kid is in to, you can come for some structured indoor time, or as a last-minute location when the weather turns bad.

Who doesn't love bounce houses? Pump it Up is an "inflatable party zone" that offers structured programs and free play. It's good for kids three and up, so you can take the whole family.

This may be a little ways outside of town, but kids love airplanes. Wander around and watch as their minds are blown by all of the different kind of aircraft. You can spend the day and take in an IMAX movie while your there, or make it a short trip for the attention span-challenged in your family. Parking is free after 4:30, which is great for short trips.

Movies are a perennial rainy-day favorite, but Tally Ho offers much more. Take the kids for an evening of family-friendly comedy when improv group performs. Check their schedule, as there are many special events throughout the year, including special $1 movie runs, so you can entertain the kids without breaking the bank.
