Patch Picks

In this week's edition of Patch Picks, we get moving.

It's supposed to be in the seventies this weekend, with temperatures getting down to the high sixties by Monday. If you can dance in between the raindrops, there are some great outdoor events that are going to help you get going this weekend.

This free event at the Leesburg Executive Airport on Saturday, September 24, will get you and your family dancing around. Whether it's a dance-a-long, or a visit to the Disney "Shake it Up" dance zone, you're sure to leave with some tired kids. There will also be healthy cooking demonstrations and inflatables for more healthy fun.

The Perfect 10
10K or 10 Miles: pick your poison. Get running with this Sunday, September 25, with their Perfect 10 race in Reston, benefiting the South Lakes Cross Country and Track & Field programs. Come for the race, stay for the food, prizes and music.

Whether you're an expert geocacher or someone who just loves their GPS unit, head over to the Brambleton welcome center this Saturday at 4 p.m. for their second annual geocaching event. Meet fellow area geocachers and get tips, while searching for one of the several new caches in the area.

On Sunday night, Morven Park will host a night of folk and blues music with Andrew McKnight & Beyond Borders, beginning at 6 p.m. Sit back, relax on the lawn and enjoy a picnic. It's a perfect way to wind down after a busy weekend - but don't be surprised if the music gets you moving again.

Why not extend your weekend for a good cause with the 15th annual Open Opportunities Golf Tournament? The tourney supports four Loudoun and Fairfax organizations who serve people with disabilities. The tournament features a sit-down lunch, golf cart, beverages, golf shirt, jacket or bag, catered dinner, a silent auction and raffle, as well as complimentary beer and wine. Best of all, all funds raised will be matched, so it's double the benefit.
