Route 7 Roadwork to Begin in Late May

Pre-construction meeting May 15 with Virginia Department of Transportation.

Release, Town of Leesburg:

The Virginia Department of Transportation and Shirley Contracting will host a “Pardon Our Dust” pre-construction meeting on the Route 7 Westbound Truck Climbing Lane project, at 7:00pm on Thursday, May 15, 2014. The meeting will be held at Loudoun County High School, 415 Dry Mill Road SW in Leesburg. The public is invited to attend.

In order to improve safety and ease traffic congestion, particularly during evening rush hours, VDOT will build a climbing lane for slow-moving heavy vehicles on the westbound side of Route 7, from the West Market Street exit to the Route 9 exit. The project also includes reconfigured medians with barrier-separated left-turn lanes, new roundabouts on Route 9 at the Route 7 interchange, and an extension of Fort Johnston Road that will connect Alysheba Drive to Leeland Orchard Road.

At the meeting, the project team will provide an overview of the construction project, including the current status, the expected construction schedule, and information on how traffic will be managed during the construction. Construction is expected to begin in late May 2014 and be completed in October 2015.
