Sport & Health Fundraiser Benefits Leesburg Boy

Silent auction bidding continues through April 20 at the health club in Brambleton; the proceeds money will help pay for cancer treatment.

of Leesburg has battled Osteosarcoma, a bone cancer, in his right leg that spread to his lungs. 

The child has endured 12 rounds of chemotherapy – nine more are planned – yet has kept a positive spirit and smile.

Brambleton Sport & Health Club in Ashburn has planned a fundraiser from April 13-20 to help pay the Giordano family’s medical expenses. Sport & Health has set up a silent auction where participants bid on items throughout the week.

“Many people are also making cash donations at the club when they attend classes,” said Brittany Horowitz, a spokesperson for Sport & Health. 

Auction items include local restaurant gift cards, services from Sport & Health staff members, such as personal training sessions, yoga sessions and swimming lessons, and more. All of the proceeds go directly to the Giordanos.

“I am speechless and so touched by the amount of support,” said Roya Giordano, Mathias’ mom. “I am so thankful for everything. The more awareness there is about this, the more lives can be saved.”

Sport & Health has made the bidding available to everyone. Participants do not have to be club members.

 “Our doors are open to anyone,” Horowitz said.
