The Great Escape

In this week's edition of The Great Escape, we check out a local horse race.

Loudoun County is horse country, so we're no stranger to equestrian events. Many of them, like , are quite expensive though. So what if you want to don a fancy hat and see a race without breaking the bank?

Head out to this weekend and do just that at the 32nd running of the Morven Park Steeplechase. The event will be held this Saturday from 11-6 and will be filled with food and fun for the whole family.

Start off with a guided course walk at noon, with post-time for the first race happening at 1:30. Food will be provided by , and tailgating is allowed before the event. You can even bring your pooch, as dogs on leashes will also be allowed.

Proceeds benefit , which works to improve "the lives of people with disabilities through equine-assisted activities," as well as The Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation, the goal of which is "preserving Morven Park’s 1,000 acres in memory of Gov. Westmoreland Davis for agricultural, educational and recreational pursuits."
