Walk to Cure Diabetes at Ida Lee Sunday

The event is one of more than 200 sponsored by the Capitol Chapter of the JDRF.

Registration remains open for the Capitol Chapter of JDRF’s 2013 Northern Virginia Walk to Cure Diabetes, which is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 19, at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg. The Capitol chapter’s fundraising goal for the statewide event is more than $500,000 for research to find better treatments and a cure for diabetes and its complications.

“We’re so excited that this walk is growing. This year, we are looking forward to attracting even more participants,” said JDRF Capitol Executive Director Piper Dankworth Sutton. “We are getting closer to a cure and we appreciate all of our partners who are selflessly helping us reach that goal.”

Participants can register by going to www.jdrfcapitol.org or calling the JDRF Capitol Chapter at (202) 465-4122. This year’s walk event features a 3.2 mile (5K) route that starts and finishes at Ida Lee Park. Festivities include live entertainment, dancing, kids’ activities and food.
