Classical Piano Concert with John Chen

6th Annual Benefit Concert with John Chen

Please join us for the 6th Annual Benefit Concert with John Chen on Saturday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m. John will play selections from Chopin, Brahms, and Liszt in the Loudoun Country Day School auditorium on a 9-foot Steinway.

John has been playing in prestigious competitions since age 11, including, more recently, in the fall of 2010, Mozart's Concerto No. 9 in E-flat Major and the Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 with the National Symphony Orchestra of China.

John is currently enrolled as a piano student of Matti Raekallio and Veda Kaplinsky at the Julliard School Pre-College Division. Since 2008, he has also studied under the guidance of Chinese pianist Mr. Yin Chengzong.

Loudoun Country Day School is proud of John, and we feel very fortunate that we will once again enjoy his brilliant talents on the piano. John has not only been giving his gifts back to LCDS since 2006, he has also helped at other benefit events, both locally at retirement homes, and abroad - particularly to help earthquake victims in WenChuan, China.

The Diversity Scholarship Fund at Loudoun Country Day School was established through the generosity of Fred and Karen Schaufeld.

This year's concert is co-chaired by parent Melanie Herman and her daughter Jessica.

The concert will open with a waltz played by five current Loudoun Country Day School students. Refreshments will be served at intermission.

Tickets can be purchased through the school or online at www.LCDS.org/concert. Please call 703/777-3841 for more information.
