"Last Ham" Brings in the Bacon

Improv Comedy troupe packed the Tally Ho Theater Friday night

The Last Ham Standing, and improvisational comedy troupe, performed to a packed house at the Tally Ho Theater during Leesburg’s First Friday.

At shortly before 8 p.m., the show sold out, and would-be attendees were either turned away, or begged for standing room.

Two such people, a local mother and son who did not identify themselves, said they had been searching for parking for 20 minutes prior, and were disappointed to find the show had sold out so quickly.

Dave Wright, the theater’s owner, beamed at the turnout.

“We’ve had packed shows,” he said. “We’ve had sold-out shows, but I would say this is officially our biggest show for Last Ham Standing.”

Wright started Last Ham Standing about eight years ago. The troupe has a rotating cast, but two of the permanent members are his business partners at Tally Ho, Steve Heaton and David Sly. When they took over the movie theater about three years ago, Wright thought it was important to draw on his and his partners' performance backgrounds and add a little more to the Tally Ho experience
