Patch Picks

In this week's edition of Patch Picks, we're getting artsy.

This week, Loudoun has some great ways for you to either appreciate local art or get artistic yourself.

On Friday, July 15 from 6-9, enjoy a reception at Gateway Gallery featuring wine and conversation with featured artists, potter Melinda Croft, lampwork artist Katy Stidley, painter Rebecca Tighe, and digital painter Jan Blacka. The Round Hill Art Center and Bogati Bodega winery will also be open during the reception.

On Friday and Saturday, head over to Paxton Manor in Leesburg and get ready to scare your neighbors. Paxton is looking for around 20 male and female leads and storytellers. Be spooky, be scary, and be a part of a Leesburg Halloween institution.

From now until the end of July, the Oatlands historic Carriage House has been transformed into an art gallery. In the 13th annual Four Seasons of Oatlands Art Show & Sale, you can expect to see images from the “Journey Through Hallowed Ground” portion of Route 15, which begins in Gettysburg, PA and ends at Monticello in Charlottesville, VA.  It also will showcase works from the Mosby Heritage Area, as well as Oatlands itself.

The A.V. Symington Teen Center at Rust Library is holding its second-annual poster contest and Anime-Con for teens (ages 12-18). "Create a poster based on the theme 'Libraries Change Lives' on 8.5 x 11 inch paper and submit your design to the teen center staff no later than 2:00 pm on July 16. The 2nd Annual Anime Con will begin at 12:00 pm and include cosplay, gaming, anime viewing, trivia, a manga swap and more!"
