Sun Shines on the Loudoun Bluegrass Festival
Bluegrass fans enjoyed a day of music, food and refreshments at the 2nd annual Loudoun Bluegrass Festival.
The sun shone brightly as the opened at 10 a.m., Saturday at the Loudoun County Fairgrounds, located at 17558 Dry Mill Rd., west of Leesburg.
There was a full day of music until 10 p.m. Fiddle, flatpicking, banjo and mandolin competitions began at noon, with cash prizes for the winners. There are also workshops, jam sessions and both indoor and outdoor venues.
Featured performers included the bands Della Mae, and Nothin’ Fancy.

Area vineyards – Willowcroft, and Fabbioli Cellars – offered wine tastings, and Carolina Brothers of Ashburn served award-winning barbecue.
The festival was sponsored by the Dulles International Airport Rotary Club. Proceeds will go to scholarships for students in Loudoun County, and toward clean water projects.
