Music Breathes Life into Tally Ho

The theater-turned-concert venue has a range of shows booked every weekend through June.

The Tally Ho Theater, which only recently reinvented itself as a live entertainment venue, has three big concerts planned Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

“It’s going to be fun, we’re going to put it to the limit,” said Jack Devine, who manages the Tally Ho with his dad, Don Devine.

Thursday night, Folly Beach, SC-based Dangermuffin, a group that has spent the past eighteen weeks in the No. 1 position on the Home Grown Music Network, brings its eclectic mix of music to Leesburg. Percussion play a huge part in Dangermuffin’s sounds, according to the group’s blog: “Behind the virtuosic rhythms of drummer Steven Sandifer, the group seamlessly segues from calypso to world beat to a down-home shuffle, often within the same song.”

Friday night, The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band: Who’s Bad, takes the stage. Don’t forget the jeweled glove, epaulets and dancing shoes for an energetic and captivating evening of music.

Sticking with the cover theme, Saturday’s concert features A Tribute to the Beatles: The Return. The Fab Four tribute band attempts to re-create an early ‘60s concert experience.

Devine said that business has been great since Tally Ho, reopened, “averaging 250-300 people a show.” Weekends are booked through June.

The recently renovated Tally Ho Theatre was gutted and reopened in December, with the installation of a new P.A. system to improve the sound. And while the theater often supplemented its cinematic offerings with comedy and music shows, now live entertainment takes center stage.

Future shows include The Archives and The Green Beets on March 22 and The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience: ZOSO on March 23.

Tickets for all shows are available in advance at tallyhoLeesburg.com, or at the door. Also check the website for concert times, ticket prices and other information.
