Back to School: Free Physicals Event at HealthWorks Aug. 17

Free physicals and immunizations are some of the services available at an all-day health awareness event Saturday, Aug. 17 from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. at HealthWorks for Northern Virginia, 163 Fort Evans Rd, Leesburg.  

Hosted by HealthWorks of Northern Virginia, Saturday's health fair is co-sponsored by the Loudoun County Public Schools, Loudoun County Health Department, Junior League of Northern Virginia, INOVA and INOVA Mobile Health.

"The whole building will be filled with volunteers," said Caroline Toye, Development Manager at HealthWorks for Northern Virginia.

Activities throughout the day include arts and crafts, nutritional workshops for kids, interactive displays, free backpacks filled with school supplies, Zumba classes, Reach out and Read story time, car seat inspections, as well as free food and refreshments.

"You cannot go to school without these immunizations.  This event is designed for low income families who do not have health insurance, so kids can go to school," Toye said.

Aside from free physicals and immunizations, Healthworks will also be offering dental screening, TB testing, lead testing, vitals check, vision screening and hearing tests.
