Cupcakes Actually Signs Lease at Village at Leesburg

The business will move in shortly after the new year. This will be its second location.

Village at Leesburg has announced that Cupcakes Actually, a locally owned gourmet cupcakery, has signed a lease for retail space in Suite 108 of the 1607 block of Village Market Boulevard. The business is scheduled to open in early 2013.

"We feel very fortunate to have done so well during these trying economic times," said co-owner Susan Woodhouse. Both she and her sister/business partner, Jen, are "extremely excited" to be opening their second shop.

According to its web site, the family-owned business came to the Washington, D.C. area in 2008. Since then, the store, which is located in Fairfax Corner, has grown into one of Northern Virginia’s favorite cupcakeries.

Their weekly cupcake lineup features an exquisite variety of gourmet flavors such as Gold Nugget, Vanilla Bean, and Italian Stallion. There are also three signature cupcakes that are dipped in top-coats of chocolate and caramel. Each cupcake is made daily, fresh from scratch, using personally-crafted recipes and local and premium ingredients.

"We will also be implementing a coffee bar and will be serving a variety of specialty coffees," Woodhouse said. "Our very talented and creative staff have been busy creating new cupcake flavors, to add to our menu of over 60 existing flavors, as well as a selection of Gluten Free and vegan cupcakes. We will also be adding Gelato to our menu."

Cupcakes Actually will join a roster of 44 retailers including Wegmans Food Markets, LA Fitness, Altar’d State, Charming Charlie and Coldwater Creek. They will be hiring about 20 full and part time employees prior to opening.
