Demolition Event Planned for Barber and Ross Site in Leesburg

Public invited, as March 25th event marks beginning of construction for the new Crecent Place mixed-use development.

Release, Town of Leesburg:

Lansdowne Development Group, in partnership with Markel-Eagle Partners, LLC, and Knutson Companies, is hosting a Crescent Place Demolition event on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 5 p.m., on the site of the former Barber and Ross window and door manufacturing plant on Harrison Street in Leesburg. The public is invited to join Town officials as demolition begins on the old facility in order to pave the way for the new mixed-use Crescent Place development.

Lansdowne Development Group and its partners purchased the former Barber and Ross site and the adjacent Perry property in October 2012. In February 2014, the company received zoning approval from the Town of Leesburg to construct 224 residential townhomes, stacked condominium townhomes and live/work units, as well as 30,000 square feet of retail/commercial space. Construction of the Crescent Place development marks the beginning of redevelopment in the Town’s Crescent District revitalization area.

“While keeping the Crescent District designs and uses in mind, our vision is to design a community with a downtown city vibe that feels as though it has always been an integral part of the neighborhood,” stated Hobie Mitchel, President of Lansdowne Development Group. “Crescent Place will link the Crescent District to the retail and restaurants of downtown Leesburg, which is a great amenity for local residents and businesses.”

Site mobilization will begin on March 25, with residential models opening by the end of 2014.
