Events in the City Opens in the Historic Downtown

The new company allows clients to plan their special event in a more private, professional environment.

Events in the City was officially welcomed to the Town of Leesburg on Wednesday afternoon during a ribbon cutting ceremony at their new location, 3 West Market St.

Events In The City is a wedding and special event coordination and design company, founded by Laura Ritchie and Megan Pollard in Spring 2009. In 2010, they welcomed a new addition to the team, Christie McGuire. The three pride themselves on being professional, yet relating with each of their clients on a personal level.

“I think we’re looking forward to really putting a stamp on who we are so that when people walk in its not just something they’ve read on the website. They walk around, they can touch, they can see, they can really get a sense of our personality,” Pollard said. “Our relationship with our clients is very unique, friendly, and outgoing and I think they capture that when they walk into our space.”

Though Events In The City does the majority of their work with wedding event design and coordination, Pollard said they also produce fundraisers, showers, special galas and other events.

“Over the past few years we really just wanted to find a home for our clients to come in and have a nice space,” Pollard said, rather than a living room or coffee shop. “We wanted something exclusive for them and we started shopping and found a very perfect place here in Leesburg.”

Economic Development Manager Marantha Edwards said that the town is thrilled to welcome the new business. They will bring a uniquely fresh and energetic approach to event planning, she said, which will complement the town’s hospitality industry.
