Kraze Burgers Opens in Lansdowne

Korean-based chain offers fresh, gourmet burgers on Promenade Drive in Lansdowne, Va.

There's a new burger place in town.

This month, Lansdowne became home to the second Kraze Burgers location in the country..

The Korean-based company sold U.S. franchise rights to the company’s U.S. CEO Richard Macdowell. Macdowell opened the first Kraze restaurant in Bethesda last November, followed by the Lansdowne location, which opened Aug. 10.

Kraze (pronounced "crazy") burger’s concept is to offer healthy burgers that are fresh, made to order using all natural, hormone-free beef.  There are plenty of healthy alternatives to go with the burgers, including the popular fresh cut fries, sweet potato fries, grilled asparagus, salads and fruit.  The buns are made fresh twice a day, and you can choose an original white or multi-grain.

“The trend we are seeing now is that people like to customize their own food,” Lee said.  “People come into Kraze a few times a week because they can order so many different options”.

Lee said the most popular burger is the K. Onion: a beef patty with Honey BBQ sauce, Kraze cream cheese sauce, crispy onion rings, bacon, tomato, lettuce and mayo. Another popular burger is the Hawaiian burger, served with cream cheese sauce, mango sauce, swiss cheese, grilled pineapple, greens and mayo.

Another favorite is the My Burger which allows you to choose your own bread or have the burger in a bowl of greens.  You can choose beef, turkey, tofu or veggie.

Customers place their orders and get a number, then sit down; the order is brought out to the seating area.

The prices of the burgers start at $5.75.  There are many different salads to choose from, as well as sauces, sides, a children’s menu and ice cream shakes.

Two more Kraze burgers are scheduled to open in December at Tysons Gallaria and in Washington, DC at Barracks Row.

And in the future, the company hopes  to expand to more places throughout the U.S.

“It is going great in Lansdowne so far.  We have had a soft opening the last few weeks in order to train the employees.  Business has been about four or five times better than we expected,” Lee said.

Kraze is located at 19405 Promenade Dr, Lansdowne Town Center.  571-333-1300. For more, visit Kraze.us.
