Loudoun Chamber of Commerce Holds Monthly Mixer

The event welcomed members and their guests for a casual night of networking at The Village at Leesburg.

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce held their monthly After Hours Mixer, Thursday evening, outside of , in Leesburg.

Chamber members, including their guests, were invited to network with other local business members on ways they could benefit from one another when it comes to working together.

“I think the Chamber’s excellent. I love going to the breakfast where I get to meet a lot of people but this is where you build the relationships because you have time to actually sit and talk to people and get to know them,” said Owner Carol Kearney of Momentum Managment and More. Kearney said she tries to attend the networking events as often as she can.

“One thing that’s really good about this Chamber is it kind of motivates you, as a small business individual, to get out and network,” Kearney said. “That’s what the Chamber’s really good for. If you’re a big company you have to go to work every day. As individuals, that are out there kind of drumming up their own business so to speak, it gives you some structure.”

Jon Elliott, branch manager of Bank of Clarke County, said he also tries to attend the mixer every month. He enjoys interacting with individuals on a deeper level, especially when it comes to banking.

“When you’re dealing with money people like to talk to people they know and trust,” Elliott said. “I get to spend some quality time chatting with people, finding out what makes them tick, and how I can make it better.”

President & CEO Anthony Howard said the mixer is always well attended. Each month, the event takes place at a different location throughout the county, which benefits every business member involved.

“This is casual networking and relationship building at its best,” Howard said. “We go to really great locations throughout Loudoun County and our members really enjoy the opportunity to renew relationships, build new ones, and just network for the purpose of growing their respective businesses.”

Howard said the After Hours Mixer is one of the few events that he is able to move around the county. The best part about it, he said, is it’s a great chance to see Loudoun County and what it has to offer.

“If we did the same thing every time, in the same type of location, it would become routine or boring,” Howard said. “The fact that you can mix things up, meet new merchants, their management, and find out a little bit more about what’s going on is sort of an added value.”

The After Hours Mixer takes place every third Thursday of the month. The event will take place at Creighton Farms Golf Club, in Aldie, on Nov. 17.
