Tally Ho Brings Live Entertainment to Leesburg

Local entertainment takes place each Friday at the local theatre. This week's event features local musicians Gary Smallwood and Don Chapman.

Local recording artists Gary Smallwood and Don Chapman are scheduled to perform at the on Friday, April 13. They are part of this month’s lineup for Friday Night Live, a weekly entertainment event, which kicked off late last year.

“When we first took over the theatre back in 2008 we started with our Last Ham Standing Comedy Improv show and we had been doing that on First Friday ever since,” said owner Dave Wright.

“Toward the end of last summer we were trying to think of things to do to kind of expand the live entertainment portion," he said. "We thought ‘why don’t we create a program where every Friday there is some sort of live entertainment program and it can vary from things like improve to stand-up comedy to music, special events, so on and so forth.’"

The event launched around the time that the Tally Ho was celebrating its 80th birthday last September. The event has seen positive results, Wright said, but it would be nice if more people knew that it took place.

“I think people who haven’t checked us out before probably don’t realize that we have these things. We’re trying to get the word out as best we can,” Wright said. “It takes a while but we’re definitely seeing positive feedback from the people who are coming to our shows.”

Next Friday, Off the Cuff will perform, featuring local comedians Steve Heaton and David Sly. On April 27, local singer and songwriter Taylor Berrett will perform.

“It’s a little bit for everybody,” Wright said, adding that there are a number of events that will appeal to all ages. To learn more check out the Tally Ho website or call 703-777-1168.
