Creative Dance Center is pleased to announce they raised over $4,000 for The Malone Foundation and over $7,000 for the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter with their Fourth Annual Winter Benefit Dance Performance. The Performance was held in front of a sell-out audience at Leesburg’s Heritage High School Auditorium on Saturday, January 25th, 2014. A cast of over 300 performers from Creative Dance Center’s Competition Team, CDC Stars and Performing Troupe entertained the audience with Contemporary, Tap, Hip Hop, and Jazz dances.
We are thankful to the fans of Creative Dance Center’s programs who made this contribution possible through the purchase of tickets. We are humbly thankful as well for the talented performers, CDC Staff, stage crew, sound crew, on-site volunteers, and Studio and Program Directors. Know that the generosity will be felt throughout the greater Northern Virginia Community.
Chuck Heazel, President with the Board of Directors for The Malone Foundation, began the evening by speaking about The Teri and Shari Malone Foundation as well as introducing three recipients that are students at Creative Dance Center. The Malone Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing and developing the talents of selected eighth grade students from Loudoun County Public Schools through scholarship grants. The Foundation is committed to remembering a talented set of twins who tragically lost their lives shortly after finishing their eighth grade year in school. Friends of the family established the Foundation to honor the girls in 1991. The donation, from this performance, will enable The Malone Foundation to provide up to 16 student scholarships.

Nicole Acosta, Executive Director with the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, spoke regarding what a significant impact this donation makes for their organization. Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (LAWS), also known as Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice, is a private, non-profit organization. LAWS is a dual agency, serving both domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. LAWS seeks to empower survivors of interpersonal violence so that they may live lives free from fear, anxiety and danger. All of LAWS services are free and confidential.
Creative Dance Center is a comprehensive dance studio offering a little something for everyone from ages 18 months through adult. Programs include: Baby Ballerina, Studio Classes, Birthday Parties, After School Dance Program, Summer Camps, Competition Team, CDC Stars, Performing Troupe, and Adult Dance & Fitness. In addition, the annual “Nutcracker in a Shell - All Jazzed Up!” is produced through the Institute of Performing Arts for Youth every November. IPAY brings dreams alive through dance by providing student scholarships. Creative Dance for Children is an outreach program which brings dance to preschool and elementary schools in Northern Virginia.
