Obituary - Isa Glick

Isa was the daughter of Lazar Kapp, a cardiologist, and Esfir Kapp, a dental hygienist.  Dr. Kapp and his family were Polish refugees.  He became one of the first doctors in New York City to use an electrocardiograph machine.  Esfir had studied to be an opera singer in Poland.

Isa graduated from Hunter College and continued her studies at Columbia University.  There she met Nathan Glick, a City College graduate auditing her class.  She went home and told her parents she had met the man she was going to marry.

Nat and Isa Glick moved to and loved their lives in Virginia, although they loved Europe and visited there many times.  They shard a love of literature and the arts and each wrote movie and book reviews over the years for the NY Times, and various magazines.

Nat started his working life as a social worker and moved on to edit a magazine meant to foster intellectual dialogue with Russian and East European readers.  Isa took an active part as his volunteer consultant and editor.  She also took special interest in African American and Jewish literature.  They believed strongly in diversity and personal liberty.

The Glicks are survived by their daughter Susan, niece Joan, and nephew Bruce.
