Annual Rummage Sale to Feature 40,000 Square Feet of Bargains

The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital will host the two day event, which will take place at Morven Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning this Friday.

The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital will host its 74th annual rummage sale this Friday and Saturday at Morven Park.

The event will feature more than 40,000 square feet of bargains, ranging from new or barely used furniture, artwork, clothing, antiques, tools and holiday items, among other things.

“It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen at a rummage sale,” said Co-Chair Lisa Cromwell. “It’s going to be equivalent of about eight tractor-trailers full of donations that we’ve been collecting since February.”

Cromwell said the sale attracts thousands of shoppers from all over the mid-Atlantic region. Last year, it grossed more than $154,000, she said, which the board hopes to go over this weekend.

Proceeds will benefit nursing scholarships and board projects, including the Polly Clemens Nursery Fund, dedicated to providing for special needs at the Inova Loudoun Hospital Nursery.

“This is really a terrific fundraising event,” Cromwell said. “It’s unlike any other kind of fundraising activity and it’s a really good value for what you find.”

The two day sale will be held on the equestrian side of Morven Park, 41793 Tutt Lane, in Leesburg, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., both days. Shoppers can also bid on gift certificates, jewelry, artwork and other items during a silent auction on Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission is free during regular sale hours. The "Early Bird Hour," which will be held on Friday from 8 to 9 a.m., requires a $5 ticket. They can be purchased at the following locations:

  • Twice Is Nice Thrift Shop, 305 E Market St.
  • The Gift Shop at Inova Loudoun Hospital, 44045 Riverside Pkwy.
